Happy Feet The Song of the Heart

Lyrics to The Song Of The Heart by Prince

U might make a different song, yes that's right it's true
That don't make anybody more or less as good as uIf u
can't feel the music that's all u really need
Then turn this party all the way out
Good time guaranteed

Everybody get up
Clap your hands and dance 2 the beat
Whatever u do little darlin' it's cool
Just get up out your seat
And wave a flag because everybody plays a part
One world united singing the song of the heart

Look ... everybody makes mistakes
Oh yeah, not one or two (right!)
But that don't make the dirty little things they say about u true
(U tell 'em!)
Step aside little babies and watch me do my thing
I don't even need a good reason to do
Listen to me sing

Everybody get up
Clap your hands and show them what u got
Tonight we gonna jam from now until eternity
Don't u stop - make it hot oh!
And wave a flag because everybody plays a part
One world united singing this song of the heart

Come on! Watch me now!

Oh, I don't care what the people sayThis is my lifeI just got to like that okay (okay?)They can go fly their momma's kiteHooray! (we got it!)

All right I'm going to tell u one more timeListen ...Unh

One world
One world
One world united
Singing a song
Singing a song
Singing a song of the heart

Feel me? Oh yeah!
Feel me? Keep singing!
U can do u
I do me
Whateva! Get going y'all!
The song of the heart

First, let us say that this is Prince’s protegee, not prodigee, that brought out the lol’s and I don’t think she is an indian singer Billy Bush but whateves.

Here is a clip from Access Hollywood sent in by CB of Bria Valente, an artist you first heard about here last April with the track “Home”.

Unless you have been living under one of those rocks on Prince’s soon to be opened site Lotusflow3r.com, you know that Bria’s CD will be packaged with Prince’s 2 CD’s due for release at Target March 29th or at the web site we previously mentioned March 24th.

Prince’s Songs Illegally Recorded on a Norwegian Cover Album

Prince is suing the bosses of a Norwegian record company after learning they released a five-CD cover album full of his hits without his permission. The 81-track package, entitled Shockadelica, features Norwegian artists performing hits like Purple Rain and Sign O’ The Times.

The cheeky music executives at C + C Records inadvertently alerted Prince to the limited-edition package when they sent him a copy, according to RollingStone.com.

The pop superstar’s lawyers have ordered the Norwegians to destroy all copies of the album.

This is like robbing somebody without a mask and then sending them the videotape of the robbery. There’s some serious lunchin’ going on here. The record better hope Prince’s people are only asking them to destroy the albums.

Apollonia 6 - Sex Shooter [12" Maxi-Single]

"Sex Shooter" 1984 [12" Maxi-Single]

Apollonia 6 was the first and only album released by R&B vocal trio Apollonia 6.
The album was initially to be the second release by the Prince-formed group Vanity 6, but when lead singer Vanity departed Prince's camp, the musician hired Patricia Kotero and named her "Apollonia", thus changing the group's name and album.

Apllonia 6, the album, primarily features the vocals of Kotero, with backing vocals by Wendy and Lisa and Jill Jones (although billed members were Susan Moonsie and Brenda Bennett). The album spawned only one hit, Sex Shooter, which was performed by the group in the film Purple Rain.

The Time - Jerk Out (CD Maxi-Single)

"Jerk Out" 1990 (CD Maxi-Single)

"Jerk Out" is a song from The Time's 1990 album Pandemonium. The song was originally recorded in December, 1981 by Prince at his home studio studios during sessions for What Time Is It?. Prince originally performed all instruments and vocals and this recording remains unreleased. Prince reworked the song in the Spring of 1985 for the band Mazarati. Lead singer Sir Casey Terry recorded vocals for the song but it was ultimately left off the album, though circulates among collectors. Again, the song was reworked in late 1989 for inclusion on Pandemonium and contains input by the band. Sir Casey Terry's backing vocals remain on the track.

"Jerk Out" is a pop-funk offering driven by multiple drum machine patterns and an infectious bassline. Some spacey sounding keyboards are important in the mix, as well as a "Controversy"-like funky guitar. Bass and guitar solos are provided by Terry Lewis and Jesse Johnson respectively. The title refers to acting like a jerk (unpleasant person), supposedly inspired by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on an airline flight. The song was originally rejected due to some harsh lyrics in the third verse. They survived the Mazarati take but were revised for Pandemonium.

The song was released as the debut single from Pandemonium and became the group's highest-charting single, reaching #1 on the R&B charts and reaching #9 on the pop charts. A maxi-single was also released with several remixes of the song.

EXCLUSIVE: New Details on Prince's Online Venture, Live Dates, Photos, and More!

Prince's new online venture, LOtUSFLOW3R.com, will debut on March 24. The site will offer digital downloads of the three new albums previously announced with a March 29 street date, in CD format, at Target stores. Two sources in Prince's camp also have confirmed that the rumored price of $77 for one year's subscription to the site has been formally settled upon. The picture above is an exclusive screengrab provided to us by Prince's web developer, Scott Addison Clay, who recently gave me an advance tour of the Web site. That main image, derived from the cover to the album of the same name, will be the user's portal into the online "world" of that album, complete with lyrics, artwork and new photos, in addition to the tunes. Two other "worlds," one for each of the other two Princely releases, also exist on an animated 3-D plane, in an arrangement that Clay compares to the popular game Myst. The album "MPLSoUND," as previously reported, is Prince's electronic counterpart to the guitar-heavy "LOtUSFLOW3R," while "Elixer" is the debut offering from Prince's latest protege, Bria Valente. Check out the covers for "MPLSoUND" and "Elixer" below, first on PopVox:

On the technical tip, Clay's creation is clearly a step up from some of Prince's past online homes, some of which were subject to unfortunate outages at peak times of Prince interest. And, by the way, the new music sounds pretty exciting, too. "Boom," the proper kickoff to LOtUSFLOW3R following a 30-second instrumental interlude, mixes psychedelia with funk rhythms and orgiastic guitar wailing. The song "Chocolate Box," on the electro-influenced album titled "MPLSoUND," features one of the all-time great Prince boudoir boasts: "I got a box a chocolates / that'll rock the socks of / any girl that wanna come my way." It also features one of Prince's best collaborations with a rapper to date, in the person of Q-Tip. During the 90's, Prince's revolving door MC's-for-hire were generally far less distinct than his music. And even when Prince used name-brand rhymers like Chuck D, their styles did not always mesh. Q-Tip's jazzy delivery, however, is the perfect fit for Prince's endearingly askew electronic sound-world. Here's to more of that kind of collaboration. (You can read my January profile of Q-Tip here.)

There are other new details, as well. Prince will perform "multiple times," in different locations around Los Angeles, on March 24, though those performances will not be streamed or recorded for the site. As Billboard previously reported, Prince will then be a guest on the Jay Leno show from March 25-27 (and again during Leno's last week in May). A representative for the Purple One says, however, that ticketing information for the three non-Leno events on March 24th will be posted on the beta version of LOtUSFLOW3R.com in the coming days. "The site is going to be your key to figure out how to get access," Prince's representative told NEWSWEEK.

Three new videos, one for each single off the new albums, are also in the can. "Crimson and Clover," Prince's cover of the Tommy James and the Shondells classic (with a little bit of Hendrix's "Wild Thing" thrown in for good measure) is the first single from "LOtUSFLOW3R." The aforementioned "Chocolate Box" is the nominee from "MPLSoUND," while the Bria Valente song "Everytime" will be the first multimedia from that disc. All three videos will debut on the site upon its March 24 launch.

And for the curious, here's another, exclusive new shot of Bria, taken by Prince himself:
During the tour, LOtUSFLOW3R.com appeared to be a multimedia powerhouse capable of playing videos and live clips (including Prince's cover of Radiohead's "Creep" from last year's Coachella) while also handling advanced 3-D modeling and Flash-based photo galleries. Clay gave us some more details about future plans for the site. Check out next week's print edition of NEWSWEEK for more details.

51 Albums, Prince, The Dream Factory~ Thank You Vibe Magazine

I just had to post this. The Dream Factory album is the BOMB!!!

This is the 4Th installment of 51 Albums that never were.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, VIBE Magazine!!!!

Enjoy!!! I know I did !

PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION Dream Factory (Paisley Park, 1986)

“Writing a song for Prince is like brushing his teeth,” keyboardist Lisa Coleman says, laughing. “He’s that guy.” But for much of 1986, the prolific artist whose albums often bore the tag, “Written, arranged, produced, and performed by Prince,” was in a collaborative mood. The outcome? The stunning 18-track Dream Factory.

During Prince’s Hit & Run tour, he entered the studio for a series of dates with his longtime backing band The Revolution. Two members of the classic lineup would have the most artistic impact on those sessions: Coleman and guitarist Wendy Melvoin. That was the relationship he, Lisa, and myself had,” Melvoin recalls of the duo’s close musical bond with the infamously independent Purple One. “We were in studios all over the world, writing and finishing tracks that were all incredibly diverse and odd.

”Following Around the World in a Day (Paisley Park, 1985) and Parade (Paisley Park, 1986), Dream Factory was a showcase for Prince at his most avant-garde. What other multiplatinum superstar would open up an album with a melancholy instrumental piano piece like “Visions”? But it only gets deeper—and weirder. Witness the dark funk title track, which rails against the crippling illusion of celebrity; “Crystal Ball,” a relentless 10-minute epic about war; and “Train,” a soulful rocker that uses train-track sound effects as a backbeat. The centerpiece is “All My Dreams,” a whimsical number straight out of a 1930s jazz musical, featuring Prince singing into a megaphone.

But Dream Factory was never officially released. After abruptly disbanding the Revolution, Minnesota’s native son included Dream Factory solo standouts like “Ballad of Dorothy Parker,” “Strange Relationship,” and “Sign O’ the Times” on his acclaimed 1987 album of the same name, erasing any trace of Wendy and Lisa. “We wanted to be Prince’s muses,” she says, “but he felt like he needed to take back the initial thing that got him to where he was at, which was, ‘I need to do this on my own,’” Melvoin says. Yet Wendy and Lisa have thrived, releasing several albums and scoring films like Soul Food (20th Century Fox, 1997) and television shows like NBC’s Heroes, as well as working with the Edith Funker supergroup with Erykah Badu, ?uestlove, James Poyser, and DJ Jazzy Jeff. But looking back, Wendy says of the time: “We are extremely proud of that period.

COMMENT
When people mention great Lovesexy shows, I'm surprised this doesn't get a mention as it is a phenomenal concert and performance of the tour. This show is also circulating on (at least) two other fan releases : 'Uniondale 24.10.88' and 'Unchain My Heart' - two different recordings, and this is appears to be sourced from the same recording as the 'Unchain My Heart' 2cdr fan release. The recording is certainly not going to be winning any awards for cleanliness or sharpness, however I actually don't mind the roughness of it as it gives it a certain edge. The constant, annoying hiss which plagued the first half of the show from the previous release has cleaned up a treat, and the improvement here is pretty major - impressively so. It's loud, and at times would perhaps qualify for a VG+ rating if it weren't for the second half of the show being less impressive and really rather average quality. Disc 1 is really the stand-out portion of this release and I have to credit whomever for whatever work has been done, however there are obviously limitations, as Disc 2 proves. It's not bad, but the increased audience noise, and overall shrill sound throughout the second half don't make for a VG+ grading. Still, the show can be enjoyed all the more due to the improved audio, and it's one hell of a show to enjoy. The show begins fairly typically, however Prince seems to find his groove a few songs in, and for there on he is conversing with the crowd and seems to be having a great time. It's never more obvious than on 'Blues In C' which is stretched out to 10 minutes long, and is a genuinely funny performance with Prince taking on the sexist role prior to Boni speaking on behalf of the female persuasion and including a small portion of the aftershow favourite 'Rock Me, Baby'. This extended performance, along with a near-15 minute 'Anna Stesia' (due in part to a lengthy speech), a 10 minute 'Take This Beat', and the inclusion of the piano medley, make this the longest currently circulating recording of a Lovesexy show at a little over 160 minutes. Sure, the recording could be better, however it's enjoyable, listenable, and much better than before. The extraordinary show is just the icing on the cake. Shame about the artwork though.

Prince to Open Up Vaults for New Web Site

Ever wondered what it'd be like to reside in the head of Prince? Well, the Purple One's new Web site, LotusFlow3r.com, gives fans a glimpse and, as you'd imagine, it is mind-blowing. Spinner visited the office of the LotusFlow3r's developer, Scott Addison Clay, for a sneak preview of the intricate site, which was largely inspired by the popular video game Myst.Like the game, LotusFlow3r offers an intricate maze of worlds to delve into, all with ridiculous 3-D graphics that conjure up some images of the classic animated film 'Heavy Metal.' And once into the Prince galaxy, the riches are numerous. For starters, fans will be able to hear and download all three of his 2009 new albums, 'LotusFlow3r,' 'MPLSound' -- which features online replicas of the Minneapolis skyline and Prince's favorite guitar, Sonny -- and 'Elixir,' a collaboration between Prince and his newest protegée, Bria Valente, prior to any physical release. But the real treasure for Prince devotees is in the archive. According to Clay, Prince has filmed almost every one of his concerts since the 'Purple Rain' days, and to prove it, he had Spinner click on a video link inside Prince's virtual head, where we discovered a performance of 'Break It Down' from last year's Coachella show.LotusFlow3r, which will launch sometime this month, will be a paid subscription site (Clay is speculating that the initial cost for a year will be $77), and to give fans their money's worth, Prince will continue to roll out content on a regular basis, including live video clips and possible full-length concerts, as well as unreleased music. According to Clay, Prince has copious amounts of never-issued material, which Clay and his team are in the process now of cataloging. In essence, it's a true one-stop shop. This is not surprising, following the Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails paradigms of self-released music, which Clay says he talked about with Prince back in September at their first meeting. Clay has already had calls from other artists interested in following the example of LotusFlow3r, and he admits the Purple One is trying to entice some of his big-name friends into his galaxy.

Celebrity Gossip - Prince expected to retire after 2009 album

As the saying goes, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” Fan the smoke and you decide if there’s really a fire.

Entertainer wants to focus on Religion and other artists.

Prince has revealed that his plans for 2009 include his three new albums which may be his last, including an electro-flavored solo effort tentatively titled MPLSOUND.

Close friends expect Prince to “call it quits” to a career that has spanned 20+ years so he can focus on developing other artist and giving back to the Jehovah’s Witness Religion.

This year, the Prince also plans to introduce his newest singing protégé. “We got sick of waiting for Sade to make a new album,” Prince said, introducing Bria Valente’s new album, “Elixir.”

Prince also addressed quotes from a recent New Yorker interview that made national headlines, among them, his refusal to vote in the November election because of his religion.

“I didn’t vote for Obama either,” he explained. “Jehovah’s Witnesses haven’t voted for their whole inception.”

Prince also felt the New Yorker piece wrongly implied that he supported California’s gay-marriage ban.

“I have friends that are gay and we study the Bible together,” he told Flowers, adding that the two sides fighting “only benefit the third person” who instigated the fight.

No word on what these "NPG-related events" will be, stay tuned (or should we say "stay 2ned").

LA Weekly is guessing Prince may be planning a secret in-store performance at the Target on La Brea but they say "that's idle speculation."

If Prince really wants to shock people, he'll start a show on time. That would really make his fans go crazy.

The Lake Minnetonka Suite, Volume 1

bout to make a personal voyage into legendary musical territory...

the infamous Lake Minnetonka...

DJ Jaycee did this mix back in August of '08 and it features a lot of my favorite classic joints that came out of Minneapolis between the years of '78 and '86. if you're a fanatic of that purple guy from that specific era in time, then this mix is for YOU!! but hold on, it gets better. other artists featured in this mix include Chaka Khan, Cherrelle, The Time, The Family, Sheila E., Mazarati, Jesse Johnson's Revue, Captain Rapp (the very first record that legendary production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis ever produced) and more. I'm not gonna post the set list because I already KNOW that as soon as "Soft & Wet" comes on, there's NO NEED to fast forward thru anything...

Give it a listen! - Mix by DJ Jaycee

The New One From The Purple One

In current news, Prince's 3CD set, Lotusflow3r, drops exclusively at Target this month for $11.98. Ever the marketing man, the new set features two new Prince albums (Lotus Flow3r & MPLSound) and a third CD by Bria Valente, a new protege who will now be heard by all of Prince's fan (at least once). That's as brilliant as when he gave his new CD away for free at concerts, while building the cost into the ticket price and getting them counted as "sold" albums by Soundscan & Billboard. See his new site at lotusflow3r.com.

Prince - Rock & Roll Is Alive (And It Lives In Minneapolis) (1995) Flac

Prince is the purple king of the Twin Cities... and I don't mean The Vikings. This B-side to the single Gold was a response to the song Rock and Roll Is Dead by Lenny Kravitz. The song complements the rock-based Gold and features rousing guitar solos and live drumming as well as various studio tricks throughout the track. The chorus is sample recorded from a live audience

Rock and Roll Is Alive! (And It Lives In Minneapolis)... in Flac!

Please enjoy this fairly rare single responsibly. Thank you.

Prince - Nude Tour 1990 (1990) Flac

*all artwork included at 300dpi

Artist: Prince
Title: Nude Tour 1990
Venue: Yokohama Stadium, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Japan
Date: September 10, 1990
Quality: Audience

This is sort of an odd one friends. It is a good Prince show but a really terrible bootleg package overall. The first disc has 4 tracks and the second disc has only 1 track. The below set listing is only for reference. I got it from the back of this double CD set. I am not sure it is real accurate. I did some sifting around on the net and found different (but similar) track listings for this very boot. It is an okay audience recording and apparently one of the better boots from this tour. Maybe somebody would like to take the time to cut it into tracks with an accurate track listing. I have listened to the show a couple of times over the years and still enjoy it.

Hope you do too…
